DIY BODY WRAP

Body Wrap Basics

REMEDY 1

The main goal of a body wrap is skin rejuvenation, overall general body healing, detoxification and weight loss. Body wrap recipes will vary in ingredients and it's up to you to find a recipe that works well for what you're trying to accomplish. Popular body wrap ingredient choices include seaweed, aloe, healing salts, Clary sage, comfrey root, dandelion root, alfalfa, chamomile, rosemary and rose hips. You can play around with your own ingredients and determine which mixture you like the best.

Ace Bandages

Ace bandages can be beneficial to a homemade body wrap. Some people use a giant crock-pot or roaster filled with herbal water to soak the bandages in. You'll most likely need a friend or family member to help wrap your body. You typically stay wrapped for about an hour while you move around and exercise (or even just walk), so that you detoxify and get better

Making the Herbal Body Wraps

¼ cup of green clay

¼ cup of sea salt

2 tablespoons of olive oil

2 cups of water

Seaweed and other ingredients, depending on your preference

You can heat a large amount of water in either a crock-pot or a roaster and use additional quantities of ingredients to make bigger batches. Most directions suggest bringing the water to a boil, but my preference is to slow cook the water with all of the ingredients for a few hours and soak the Ace bandages in the water before the wrap. Play around with it and decide what works best for you and is the most convenient. You're basically making an herbal tea to soak the wraps in.

REMEDY 2

Things You'll Need 2 cups dead sea clay

1 cup sea salt

½ cup chamomile powder

½ cup parsley powder

1 cup kelp powder

18 mL essential oils

2 tbsp. aloe vera gel

2 tbsp. shea oil

1.8 liters water

Medical cloth bandages

Step 1

Soak the bandages in the mixture. The mixture should feel slightly warm to the skin, but not overly hot. You can reheat the wrap ingredients if necessary.

Step 2

Apply the bandages to your naked body. Start at your ankles and work your way up the body. Move the bandages around the legs, thighs, buttocks, abs, arms and chest in a circular manner, cocooning the body. Secure the bandages with metal clips if necessary. Attach the clip to both ends of the bandage or tuck in the end underneath the bandage to secure. The bandages should be tight, but not overly constricted where it feels painful.

Step 3

Leave the body wrap on for at least 45 to 60 minutes. During this time, you should stay warm. You may want to keep moving by lifting hand weights or doing another low impact form of exercise. You may also cover yourself with a thermal foil blanket to keep warm. Tips • You may substitute any of the ingredients for other herbal extracts and essential oils. You may also include whole milk, goat's milk or witch hazel in place of any of the water in the body wrap. • If you find it difficult to apply the wraps on your own, ask a friend for assistance. • Remember to avoid unhealthy substances prior to the body wrap. Steer clear of caffeine, fatty foods, cigarettes and alcohol at least 48 hours before you plan to do the wrap. • You should drink a lot of water prior to the body wrap. Up your water intake after the wrap as well to help remove toxins from the body.

GOOD LUCK!!!
